Biosystems Engineering 3-D Mural

Preparing to celebrate their 100th anniversary as a specialized department of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, the Biosystems Engineering Faculty and School Head requested a piece that reflects their major areas of focus.

This piece must tell a story, pinpointing how applying engineering to problems and opportunities presented by living things and the natural environment, can help us ensure that we have the necessities of life: safe and plentiful food to eat, pure water to drink, clean fuel and energy sources, and a safe, healthy environment in which to live. Their identity is established by their longevity in these areas and so the clients have expressed their desire to maintain an effortlessly timeless piece as a reflection of this.

Prototype Development

I played with the balancing of important features and wanted each item to stand out. However, the composition as a whole needed to also be readable.
