A new innovative technology that's starting to permeate throughout the medical field- the Oral Thin film strip filled with prescription medications. It’s an alternative delivery system to your typical pills and liquids. An OTF is able to be masked with flavor, has a faster delivery because its going through the bloodstream, is easier for certain demographics to take- such as the elderly or children because the user doesn’t need water when placing it on their tongue to dissolve.

After we introduced our potential users to the concept of an oral thin film, we asked them what kinds of medications they’d prefer in strip form.  505 people said they would replace one, some, or all of their medications with OTFs if they could. The most popular medications where the potential for OTFs to be even more successful were with sleep aids, allergy relief, cold/cough and flu relief, and energy supplements to name just a few.

There are a large array of emotional responses that are associated with colors especially in the medical field. This research is deep, and very interesting and has psychological benefits if used properly.

To skim just the  surface of this theory, I want to talk about the various pill/medical colors most of us have probably seen and what they are communicating to us-whether we know it or not

Red is typically for stimulants, orange for energizers, green to anxiety reduction, blue for sedatives, white for pain killers, yellow for depression
